Lab Rescue

Today Helen and I had to visit the home of a couple who have to give up their Labrador Retriever, Phat Louie or Louie. The husband was heartbroken, having to give up the dog he has had since almost a puppy and now seven years old.

We brought Louie down to Pat and Lewis and he was well accepted. Jake, the resident male was not concrned with Louie at all and there was no growling or antagonism between the two. Lewis took a lot of video as he seemed taken with the dog and I expet we'll get some pictures from him.

He rode in the car extremely well, lying down all the way and falling asleep for part of the trip. He gave us absolutely no trouble and will be a great addition to some family. It is doubtful that he can be loved as much as he was by his last family, but we hope circumstances come close.

Back in the saddle today at AARP Tax preparation and I had a great day. All the people I helped were very nice to deal with and gave me no problems. One gentleman has been doing his own taxes forever, but hated to see that he owed over $1000.00. When I completed his return he had a refund of $218.00 instead of a debt of $1000.00. He was very pleased and will return to AARP next year. As he was leaving he muttered "I wonder if I really owed $2000.00 last year?"

Tomorrow I have to work on the riding lawn mower, then it's back to AARP Tax on Monday.

Over and out,

Paul

Well, we're back home after spending the better part of a week at the FMCA convention. One of the pictures is of our spot in the field. This was one of the sunny days. A second picture is one of Scott and Branden on a fishing trip in Tampa Bay. The third picture is one of Helen and me at our volunteer desk at the Freightliner Chassis display. We worked two hours at the desk and chatted with a number of really nice people. After our "tour of duty" Helen returned to the camper to take care of the dogs while I remained to help take down the display.

Shortly after 7 PM we packed it in and headed home. We dumped the motorhome and filled the fuel tank on the way and got home a little after midnight.

Out and About!

This is the start of our web log, having taken a class on this yesterday. We're here at the FMCA convention in Perry Georgia and have had a generally good time. The three days of rain at the beginning was something of a bother, nothing like wet dogs in the motorhome. It has been sunny and warm since Tuesday; the mud is gone, the grass is dry; and all is well with the world.

Last night we went to see Restless Heart at the arena and I was somewhat disappointed. In the past we saw Pam Tillis and The Oak Ridge Boys, and the entertainment was MUCH better. Tonight there is a comedy act and I don't know if we're going to go or not.

If I had my way, we'd be on the road tonight.

That's all for now,

Paul/Dad/Gramps/etc.
