Louie's New Home!

Well, we found Louie a new home and we couldn't be happier. Having him in Pasco County was a bit unsettling for us rural folk, so we decided to foster him from our home. Unfortunately, all the "Meet and Greet" opportunities are in Pasco County and that's where we went last Sunday to show him. We expected that any home we would find for him would be down that way. As it would happen, A family from Citrus County stopped at the shopping center in Wesley Chapel on their way home from a vacation in Sanibel. They were taken with Louie and submitted their application that night. Later we were sent the information to do a house visit and accomplished that on Monday. I had all the Labs with me as they all LOVE to ride in the car. They were really interested in Louie and I took him out to greet them. It seemed to be a match made in heaven. Tuesday afternoon, Helen and I drove Louie to his new home. They were waiting for him, and they even had the grandparents there to see the new addition to their family.
This is what Louie has moved to, a 10 acre ranch with horses, goats, and Bella, the mini Doberman. There's even a three week old filly. Louie and the family got along great and I'm sure this will be a great place for him. When it was time for us to leave, Helen was a bit teary eyed and I felt like I was losing a great friend. The Cobbs are getting a super dog.

TAX SEASON IS OVER!!!

Yes, the 2008 tax season is history, Although we all expected a deluge of late filers, it did not occur. In fact, it was a pretty quiet day with no major problems and no obnoxious people. We started the day with breakfast at Cock-a doodles before getting down to work at the library. Helen had a chance to meet a few more of my AARP work mates. I was very happy to have Helen meet the crew as I work with a group of very fine, dedicated people, and I wanted them to meet Helen.

Still, I look forward to having more time to get the work done around the house that has been hanging over my head for years. California cousins are coming in a couple of weeks and we want EVERYTHING to be ship shape. Helen keeps her share of the house pretty spiffy, but my area of the garage, cabana, back yard, and closets has evolved into a pig sty. I'm working on it. Sitting herre at the computer I can see that some major work is required in this room, too. Drat!!!

Louie's Back!!!!!!

Yup, that's right. Helen and I went down to New Port Richey this afternoon and picked up Louie. Pat, our LLROF contact there is overrun with labs and can use the help. He is a really swell dog, very quiet in the car, and unassuming in the house. I wish Jodie and Coco were as mellow as he.

We expect to be his foster people until such time as he's adopted by his "forever" family.

I'll add some pictures later.

More about 5 Labs

It's only one week and four of the five Labs have new homes. The little yellow male has been renamed "Marley", which is probably a very popular name for yellow labs now. The older chocolate male has been adopted even though he requires heartworn treatment. The new family is just thrilled with him and want him NOW, so they're going to have their own vet take care of the heartworm problem. All the ones that were not neutered before are now. The one dog, Frieda, who has not been actually adopted has a family looking at her and it is looking good.

Helen and I feel great about saving these dogs who were going to be euthanized if not for Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida.

Five More Labs

Here are three of the Labs. Cherri is the beautiful Chocolate Lab. Roy is the little Black Lab pup, and Frieda is the Yellow Lab.

Helen and I were called upon to move five more Labs from Gainesville back to Inverness, where our LRROF contact, Pat Bayers picked them up. Five labs in the back of the Jeep........it just didn't work.........one dog too many. So I did what I had to do, I had Helen drive while I held the 3 month old yellow lab puppy on my lap. That was Manny, the yellow lab male pup. Then there was Roy, a perfect specimen of the black male labradoor retrieved pup. Absolutely adorable!!! Nick was the older male chocolate lab who was very easy going and mellow, in spite of is being snipped yesterday. Frieda was a mixed yellow lab who has recently had a litter of pups, and all the pups were adopted. The last dog was Cherry, the classic example of the chocolate lab speciman. Unfortunately, I didn't have my photographer around so we have no pictures. However, it was an experience dealing with five dogs at the same time.

All the dogs behaved very well and we had no incidents or accidents.
