WOW!!! I didn't realize how light it can be at night. We are in the Fairbanks area and it is plenty light enough to play golf or baseball 24 hours a day. I've looked at the weather statistics for various areas as we passed through. We all know about sunrise and sunset. There is also a term called "civil twilight" this runs from 1/2 hour before sunrise until sunrise and from sunset to 1/2 hour after sunset. This corresponds to the legal requirements of daylight, those hours when you can legally hunt or operate an airplane. Beyond "civil twilight" there is "nautical twilight", which is the time between civil twilight and the time the horizon disappears. And then there is night. Except up here at this time of year. We go from daylight to civil twilight and back to daylight.
I'm happy that the bedroom is so dark, but our dogs are confused. They don't know whether they should be playing or sleeping or something in between. Within the next few days we will venture above the Arctic Circle where we'll have a 24 hour day.
